During my time at Simmons, one of my larger projects that I worked on was the HR New Hire Packet. The packet was outdated, not exciting, not branded well, and very disorganized.
This project had four larger sections that I worked on.
Re-type policies, benefits, company information, and general orientation information and place them in a new template that was universal and on-brand with the company. Each page that was previously in the packet was completely different and was a copy of a copy. Re-typing the documents into the templates made it much easier as we placed them into a company shared folder.
Visually branding for each type of document. Because these were all different, I had to sort through the documents and create a template for each type of document. These ended up being the policies and the benefits. The benefits had headers (pictured below) that were color coded depending on the type of benefit offered as well as a glyph created to make it more exciting to look at. Instead of a black and white document that's boring.
I designed a folder that can easily be sorted and found with the company's branding and values on it. We kept this simple as it isn't the bulk of what's important in orientation and for HR.
Lastly, we worked with a local design company to create a take-home spiral-bound notebook full of information, company store gift discount, and HR & Chaplain die-cut cards that they can keep in their wallet.
The intention of this project was to make sure that the team member feels invited and welcome into the Simmons family as our top value is to Put People First and we want to show that from day one.
